FRUITA, CO (June 7, 2017) –  Enjoy the views and a “behind the scenes” look at the work being done to restore riverside lands in the Grand Valley during Tamarisk Coalition’s Raft the River event on August 26th.  With multiple stops during the float to explore river restoration sites and talks from river experts throughout the trip, both river enthusiasts and first-time boaters will learn something new during this fun day on the water.
“This is my favorite day of the year, hands down.  Our Raft the River event offers participants a fun way to experience the river from the river,” Tamarisk Coalition’s Outreach Coordinator Cara Kukuraitis, said.  “This trip is unique in that it gives guests an opportunity to hear from the Valley’s top river experts, who are aboard each boat, and to learn about some of the local projects that are working to keep this cherished river healthy and resilient.”
After the float, relax to live music from Shaun Ray and enjoy food, drinks (including beer from Copper Club Brewing Company), and prizes.  $80 tickets include the float and evening fun.  Become a Tamarisk Coalition member and receive a 15% discount.  All proceeds will benefit Tamarisk Coalition’s riverside restoration projects in the Grand Valley.
“There is important work to be done on the Western Slope to rejuvenate our local rivers. With organizations like the Tamarisk Coalition leading the way, Alpine Bank is excited to once again partner with them for their annual Raft the River event, in hopes of educating our community about their efforts in restoring our native riverside,” states Clay Tufly, Alpine Bank Regional President.
