Joe grew up in Denver and graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 2005.  After graduating, Joe worked as a firefighter/paramedic where he spent 13 years serving in the fire service in the Front Range before he decided to pursue a career in environmental stewardship. Joe is enrolled in Colorado State University's Master of Natural Resource Stewardship program where he is focusing on Ecological Restoration.  He previously worked with the Bureau of Land Management as a seasonal employee, conducting various biological surveys and recreation projects.

As RiversEdge West's Restoration and Monitoring Coordinator, Joe works collaboratively with BLM staff to carry out restoration projects in the National Conservation Areas managed by the BLM Grand Junction Field Office.  He also partners with Desert Rivers Collaborative stakeholders in Western Colorado to protect, restore, and maintain functioning riparian habitat.

Joe loves being outdoors with his wife and two boys. They can be found riding bikes, running on trails, climbing rocks, and playing in rivers.
