On a Mission

RiversEdge West’s mission is to restore riverside (riparian) ecosystems through education, collaboration, and technical assistance.

Founded in 1999, RiversEdge West (formerly Tamarisk Coalition) focuses on riparian forest and floodplain health in the Western U.S. RiversEdge West addresses the challenges associated with impacts from invasive riparian plants such as Russian olive and tamarisk, climate change and habitat fragmentation, and other stressors that may result in diminished biodiversity and ecosystem services.

RiversEdge West plays an integral role in improving fish and wildlife habitat and enhancing the agricultural, economic, cultural, and recreational opportunities for the communities where we work.

Our Vision

RiversEdge West envisions a network of healthy riverside ecosystems throughout the Western U.S., benefiting native species, wildlife, people, and communities.

Our Values

Riparian restoration is accomplished through collaborative work that respects biodiversity and ecosystem integrity, existing water laws, property rights, and cultural and social values. RiversEdge West is an apolitical organization that promotes engagement and collaboration among diverse groups of people to restore the quality and ecological integrity of riparian lands critical to the well-being of communities. We are committed to engaging underserved and underrepresented populations in this work by addressing the barriers preventing these communities from participation.
