Join RiversEdge West, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, and Southwest Conservation Corps for a volunteer cottonwood caging event along the Dolores River on August 3 and 4!
The focus for this event will be installing cages around cottonwood trees along the Dolores River in Uravan, CO. Volunteers will transport materials including t-posts and fencing/caging to project sites and secure them around trees. The goal is to fortify the cottonwoods against beaver predation and preserve the health of this essential riparian habitat.
Volunteers must be 18 years or older for this event. The event has two shifts: August 3 from 8am-4pm and August 4 from 8am-2pm. You can sign up for one or both shifts. Free campsites are available on Friday (8/2) and Saturday (8/3) evening. Volunteers are encouraged to arrive at basecamp before 8pm on Friday 8/2. Breakfast is provided on Saturday (8/3) and Sunday (8/4), but volunteers should bring their own lunch. Carpooling information is available on the event website.
