Bosque Ecosystem Monitoring Program – Using Community Science to Study Vegetation Response to Ecosystem Drivers
Dr. Kim Eichhorst, BEMP Science & Research Director
About Dr. Kim Eichhorst:
Dr. Kim Eichhorst is BEMP’s Science and Research Director and serves as a Research Associate Professor at the University of New Mexico (UNM). Kim started bosque research in 1995 as a grad student working with Dr. Cliff Crawford (BEMP’s co-founder) on the interaction between herbivores, cottonwoods, and pollution in urban and rural areas. With BEMP, her focus is on integrating student involvement in monitoring long-term data on the river and bosque while working with stakeholders to ensure scientific integrity and relevancy of the data. Currently, BEMP analyses are used to study how the riparian ecosystem responds to climate change, including reduced water availability, and shifts in management.
