Dr. Matthew J. Johnson

Matthew J. Johnson is an avian ecologist with EcoPlateau Research.  He has 30 years of experience studying avian populations and behavior.  His professional and academic research focuses on avian ecology, population monitoring, riparian habitat modeling and population studies of at-risk species including Southwestern Willow Flycatcher, Western Yellow-billed Cuckoo, and Common Blackhawk.  The majority of his work has concentrated on studies of the ecology of riparian bird populations and communities in relation to conservation and restoration of riparian ecosystems and associated wildlife across the Southwestern United States.  Most recently, Matthew has also been studying the tamarisk leaf beetle and the effects this biocontrol agent has on avian populations.
